Updated: Nov 7, 2018
Indra Nooyi’s 5 C’s of leadership, can be applied at an individual level and across your organisation.
Indra is the current Chairperson and Chief Executive Officer of PepsiCo, the second largest food and beverage business in the world by net revenue. She is also an advisor to Barrack Obama and is regularly listed as one of the 100 influential women in the world.
What is the one thing that you, your organisation or network does really well? Developing your core competency will enable you to stand out in a crowd. This requires lifelong learning, passion and to be constantly fulfilling a need.
2. Courage and confidence
If you have developed your core competency but do not have the courage or confidence to speak up, lead the change and make a difference, you will never achieve your goals.
Effective communication should not and cannot be underestimated as it is vital for positiveengagement to progress your cause.
Remember communication is a two-way thing, we often focus on communicating what we are doing without the courage, confidence or courtesy to respond to the needs or wants of our community.
Without consistency, people will always be second guessing what it is you do and what you are about. It’s OK to change your mind, but do it against a consistent framework.
Consistency also aids brand recognition and loyalty.
Integrity is critical to long lasting success. You can have a competency, courage and confidence, effectively communicate and be consistent, but when your compass doesn’t point true North, things can dramatically come crashing down.
Indra’s 5 C model is a great framework to build your business and leadership approach on. Print this off and stick it above your computer for a daily reminder.
