Primary Care Network events to attend in Q4 | January 2023 – March 2023

Updated: May 22

It's that time of year where people are getting organised and trying to work out what events to attend.

When it comes to free events, if you book them too far in advance, you may not end up attending as your needs may have changed, so with this in mind, here are 3 events that may be of interest coming up soon.

(We have a more up to date blog on events to attend - click here to head to our blog Our guide to the best 2023 events for Primary Care Network Leaders )

How to choose which event to attend?

In our experience, people are either looking:

  1. To connect with their peers

  2. For specific industry insights on a certain topic from established leaders

  3. At formal training and professional development

  4. To sell your services

Other key factors at play include:

  • The date, time, location and cost

  • When new NHS guidance is being released.

For example, for us in Primary Care Networks, we know the PCN DES FOR 23/24 will likely be released at the beginning of the new financial year.

This may inform you whether you attend some events before or after it's released.

If you are looking to connect with your peers, this will likely not matter.

Your approach to networking will also play a big part in choosing what events to attend.

You may feel more comfortable in a smaller workshop-type event versus attending an event with thousands of people, lots of theatres and a huge timetable of speakers.

With all this in mind, I have selected 3 events which should cater to you all.

1. The Primary Care Conference hosted by The NHS Confederation on 22nd February 2023

Why attend?

This will be a key opportunity for members and non-members to network with peers, to share knowledge and experience, as well as listen to experts from across healthcare. The theme for the day will be influencing the future of Primary Care through collaborative working.

The NHS Confederation are key to the development of Primary Care Networks. They constantly have their ear to the ground to understand the challenges and opportunities at play.

They advocate, influence and support Primary Care Networks and are key in setting the direction of travel, in my opinion, so this is the event to attend if you want to better understand what the future could look like and want to help build your future strategy.

2. PCN Plus Conference 1st March 2023 in Nottingham or Virtual

PCN Plus is live in Nottingham and is hosted by PCN Clinical Director Dr Hussain Gandhi, GP Partner Dr Andrew Foster, former NHS Chief Executive Ben Gowland and host of the General Practice podcast and myself (Tara Humphrey), and it's taking place on 1st March 2023.

I recently read the book, the Art of Gathering and have taken advice from Jessica Smith - Co-Founder and CXO at SomX. For them, it’s all about the value they can bring and not what they can get, and I have taken this to heart.

Over the past 12 months, Ben, Andy, Hussain (but most people called him Gandhi) (I hope!) and I, have worked alongside each other and seen the value of bringing a range of PCN leaders together for real, frank, open and honest discussions.

There is what we should do, and then there is what life is really like.

This event is for those of you who want to know HOW others are doing it, not just the finished outcome.

We are clear that we aren’t the oracles, we just love what we do and want to extend our network to you.

The event is free, with only 40 spaces available in person, and there is an online option too.

For us, it’s not about the numbers; it's about curating some meaningful, thought-provoking conversations and some actions to help our networks move forward.

3. Best Practice London, 8th & 9th March, Olympia London

I attended best Practice last year as a speaker, and it was so much fun.

You will obviously learn loads, but this is a good event to speak to suppliers.

Looking for an FCP provider, speak to Pure, looking for legal advice, speak to Hempsons and so on.

Work out what you want, and you will likely find someone who can help you.

I am thinking of organising a little get-together..... Let me know if this would be of interest to you. Email me tara@thcprimarycare.co.uk and title your email.... I'm in!

We hope this helps!
