Discover your superpower

Updated: Jun 11, 2019

What is the one thing that:

  • You are good at?

  • People seek you out for?

  • Motivates you like nothing else?

  • Doesn’t feel like work because you absolutely love it?

  • Comes naturally to you?

For me, my super power is my focus and determination to take on a huge challenge, and the bigger the better.

Here are some examples:

  • I wrote a business plan to build a stem cell laboratory.  Initially I knew NOTHING about stem cell research, the insurance implications, ethics, minimally invasive surgery, regulatory requirements, its financial viability, planning permission, the storing of hazardous substances, governance, intellectual property rights, air flow and the list goes on (and on……). I loved the challenge of this project, and the cell lab now stands proudly in the Medway Campus at Canterbury Christ Church University

  • I started my business, whilst studying for my MBA and having 3 children under the age of 6, and I’m pleased to say I passed my MBA with a distinction!

  • I recently went to Tanzania to climb Mount Kilimanjaro

  • I’m currently training for a 100k

  • I like the challenge of breaking things down and then building things back up

  • I like the challenge of starting from a blank piece of paper and creating something new I love the challenge that working in primary care brings. Trying to get general practices and community providers to work together, to think differently and to try new things can be incredibly tough, but at the moment, there is nowhere else I would rather be.

Am I daunted by the challenge?? YES, and all the way through sometimes, but there is just something in me that wants to try and conquer it.

Do I reach the end goal all the time?? NO, but there is always something to be gained from the experience.

What is your super power? Are you a master negotiator or writer? Are you funny? Do you love caring for people? Can you see the potential in others when they can’t see it for themselves? Are you super resilient?

Think about it, and I would love it if you could share yours 😊
